The baby, whose manhood was chopped off by his step mother in Niger State, Dauda Buhari, is dead. The Director General of Child’s Right Agency, Mariam Kolo, disclosed that Buhari died in Wada village in Shiroro Local Government Area of the state, after a brief malaria illness. Speaking with Punch, on Wednesday, Kolo said Buhari had “slight malaria which made his temperature to rise and he died even after he had been administered his prescribed drugs.” Kolo revealed that Buhari died at a time he was scheduled to undergo a genital transplant in the United Kingdom, UK. The DG said the sickness was not a relapse on his health, as he was doing extremely well after a series of corrective surgeries. President Muhamamdu Buhari, has on Thursday, overruled the Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo’s decision to sign the 2017 budget, despite being on medical vacation. Buhari made his position known through his Special Assistant On National Assembly Matters (Senate), Itang Enang. Recall, that Osinbajo’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Laolu Akande, ha​d ​​​stated that his principal (Osinbajo), will sign the budget. “Just so we are clear: when the time comes, everything is set, & he is satisfied, Ag. Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has been asked to own up on what he knows about the alleged ongoing plans by some persons to overthrow President Muhammadu Buhari through military upsurge. Wike, had while reacting to a comment by Chief of Army Staff, General Tukur Buratai, that some people were approaching soldiers for political reasons; asked him to stop allocating soldiers to politicians. The agency had commissioned 479 cadet officers after their passing-out parade in Lagos on March 5, 2017, after  a nine-month training programme under the agency’s Basic Course 29/2016/17. The listing of those recruited into the service has now become a subject of concern to Nigerians who are confused as to what the DSS aims to achieve by the oddly disproportionate nature of its recruitment. The exercise was expected to award five slots to each state of the federation but the final listing shows a huge disparity in allotment cadet officers from each state. Former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has denied an online report quoting him as saying that he had warned President Muhammadu Buhari not to seek re-election in 2019.  The report, which was credited to him through his former Chief Press Secretary, Alex Nwokedi, in an on-line publication,  Post Nigeria,  dated September 3, 2016, claiming that Obasanjo had warned President Muhammadu Buhari against seeking re-election in 2019. A socio-political organisation, Coalition Against Terrorism and Extremism, on Thursday in Abuja called on the Federal Government to shun any form of negotiation with the Boko Haram sect. The organisation also commended the military for wiping out the Boko Haram sect from the North-East. “Any attempt to negotiate with terror groups in the country will rather serve as open invitation from other miscreants to hold the nation’s peace to ransom in anticipation of financial and other selfish aggrandisement as suggested for Boko Haram”, CATE said. The Secretary-General of CATE, Daniel Obaje, made the demand when he led a protest march to the Ministries of Defence and Information and the Nigerian Army Headquarters. He advised the government not to allow any group or sect to hold the nation to ransom through unreasonable demands.

Boko Haram on Sunday released a video of the girls allegedly kidnapped from Chibok in April 2014, showing some who are still alive and claiming others died in air strikes. Nobel laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, on Thursday met behind closed doors with President Muhammadu Buhari. The meeting, which lasted about an hour, was held inside the President’s office at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. The Nigerian government has started paying ex-militants in the Niger Delta region, the   BBC is reporting . The organization cited a Bloomberg News report quoting the amnesty program’s spokesman, Piriye Kirayamo, as saying  "Payments of stipends to the ex-militants resumed this Monday. The payments are done directly from the CBN [Central Bank of Nigeria] to their bank accounts.” He added that "The payment also includes tuition for those studying abroad." Respectable publicantions like the economist had warned the government against bribing militants noting that it didn’t work in the past.

The Federal Government of Nigeria has presented food and non-food items to the military for onward distribution to 800 repented Boko Haram terrorists.  The government had instituted a Programme tagged: "Operation Safe Corridor" to de-radicalize, rehabilitate and re-integrate repentant terrorists as part of measures to fast track peace process in the North east.  The spokesman of National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Sani Datti, said in a statement on Tuesday that the items were presented to the military by the Agency's Director General,  Muhammad Sani Sidi in Gombe.
